Greetings,
Welcome to Holy Rosary School. We have a vibrant Pre-Kindergarten program and a thriving K-8 school. The faculty is committed to providing a supportive and caring environment for your child. We care about developing the “whole” child – spiritually, academically, socially and emotionally. Throughout their years at Holy Rosary School we guide them to becoming:
|
Faith-Filled
A Committed Academic Learner
An Active, Responsible Citizen |
We believe these three core values will provide your child with essential skills and a faith base that is needed to become a successful young adult. Our goal is to take care of each other in our community and strive to see that all of us (faculty and students) reach our full potential.
We see education as the greatest investment you will ever make in your child’s future. Other things we purchase come and go, but the gifts of quality academics, stimulating faith formation, and high self-esteem will always be there.
Blessings,
Susana

Philosophy
The Holy Rosary Catholic School community is a diverse family consisting of students, parents, staff, clergy, and administration, representing various cultures and parishes. We identify ourselves as a part of the larger community of Catholics at Holy Rosary Church and surrounding parishes, and see our primary mission as the imparting of values and self-worth consistent with the Gospel message and the teachings of the Catholic Church.
We acknowledge the parents of our school community as the primary educators of their children. We view ourselves as their active partners in the nurturing and encouragement of growth in each child's spiritual, academic, psychological, physical, cultural, and social development. We believe that each child is a unique individual, gifted by God with the potential for happiness and health.

Admission Policy
Application Packet (New Students) 2012-2013
Registration Form (Returning Families) 2012-2013
The Catholic schools in the Diocese of Oakland, mindful of their mission to be witnesses to the love of Christ for all, admit students of any race, color, and national and/or ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the schools. The Catholic schools in the Diocese of Oakland do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and/or ethnic origin, age, sex, or disability in the administration of educational policies, scholarships, and loan programs, and athletic and other school-administered programs.
Likewise, the Catholic schools in the Diocese of Oakland do not discriminate against an applicant for employment on the basis of sex, age, disability, race, color, national, and/or ethnic origin.
Upon application, the following criteria are considered in the acceptance of Pre-Kindergarten through 8th grade applicants into Holy Rosary School.
Final determination of acceptance is made on the basis of whether or not Holy Rosary School will meet the needs of the applicant. Decisions are final.
1. Results of the applicant’s screening test.
2. Information obtained from the applicant’s present school.
3. Information obtained from the applicant’s completed application/attachments.
4. Availability of space in the grade to which the applicant is applying.
5. Additional Pre-Kindergarten criteria:
a. Pre-Kindergarten applicants must be four (4) years old by October 1st.
b. Pre-Kindergarten applicants must be independent in toileting.
6. Additional Kindergarten criteria:
a. Kindergarten applicants must be five (5) years old by October 1st.
b. Kindergarten applicants must demonstrate they are developmentally ready as determined by the screening test.
Students must show appropriate school readiness if their birthday is in the month of October. Please be aware that Holy Rosary School will recommend the gift of a year if we feel your child is not ready for our program. Students who are not accepted to our kindergarten program have the option of attending another Kindergarten program and re-applying for Kindergarten or 1st grade the following year.
The priority for admission into Holy Rosary School for Pre-Kindergarten through 8th grade applicants is as follows:
1. First priority will be given to families who are “practicing Catholics”, registered at Holy Rosary Parish.
2. Second priority will be given to families with students currently enrolled in Holy Rosary School who are “practicing Catholics”, regardless of parish; and families that are transferring from other Catholic schools that are "practicing Catholics.”
3. Third priority will be given to families who are “practicing Catholics,” regardless of parish.
4. Fourth priority will be given to families who are non-practicing Catholics.
"Practicing Catholic" is the evidence of desire for spiritual growth, practice of the faith, and faithful participation at Mass determined by the only available means, that is, the regular use of the contribution envelope or check. We are interested in a cooperative effort between parish, school, and family.

Families that do not contribute $600 or more to the Holy Rosary Parish funds as mentioned above will be placed at Out of Parish Participating Status.
